Dates/Times: Friday, June 7, 2013 5:00-9:00pm & Saturday, June 8, 2012 9:00am-4:00pm

Cost: $125 + GST for BA members, non-members add $20 (includes coaches resource & handouts)

Optional DVD resources: Badminton Alberta has permission to sell the Badminton England DVD Series (Tactics & Technique DVD's are available at $40 each - price includes GST)

Dress Code: Badminton attire is recomended. Non-marking shoes are required.

Eligibility: To participate in this course, you must be a member in good standing with Badminton Alberta or another provincial or territorial badminton organization. To reserve space, please complete the online registration through: www.badmintonalberta.ca

Space may be limited to 16 participants, please register early. Registration will be provided on a first come/first serve basis.

COURSE OUTLINE

At the end of the course the coach will be able to:
• understand and use a standard method of skill development through the use of drills
• effectively organise large and small groups for skills, drills, modified games, and competitive practice sessions
• familiarize athletes with the Laws of Badminton, etiquette, procedures and organisation of the sport in Canada
• use a variety of proper feeding techniques appropriate to the need of the student

Technical
• teach all Level 1 strokes using a standardised teaching methodology
• visually demonstrate proper technique for both a right and left-handed player
• analyze and correct the curriculum strokes

Tactical
• introduce basic singles strategy
• introduce basic doubles and mixed strategy

Practical
• answer correctly a series of "Why" questions
• plan an effective practice
• shadow-swing all basic strokes
• accurately feed shuttles for all required stroke practice
