The Arctic Winter Games is a high profile circumpolar sport competition for northern and arctic athletes. The Games provide an opportunity to strengthen sport development in the participants’ jurisdictions, to promote the benefits of sport, to build partnerships, and to promote culture and values. The Games celebrate sport, social exchange and cultures. The Games provide an opportunity for the developing athlete to compete in friendly competition while sharing cultural values from northern regions around the world.

 

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Stage One Trials date: Sunday, May 28, 2017

Location: Ecole Heritage, 110 2 Street SE, Falher, AB T0H 1M0

Time: 12 Noon – 5 pm

On-Line Registration: All athletes must register through Badminton Alberta’s on-line registration portal, available at www.badmintonalberta.ca

Registration Fee: For Badminton Alberta members, tryout fee $20

Non-member fee $41 (Badminton Alberta Basic Affiliation fee $21 + try out fee $20)

Payment method: Cash or Cheque payable to Badminton Alberta

Entry Deadline: Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 9:00pm. Fees must be paid before first match

CATEGORIES:

(a) Junior Male: born in 1999 or later

(b) Junior Female: born in 1999 or later

(c) Juvenile Male: born in 2002 or later

(d) Juvenile Female: born in 2002 or later

Format: Round Robin singles play – 21 rally points, best of 3 games

The top two males and females for each of the u16 and u19 age categories will be eligible to attend the final selection for TEAM ALBERTA NORTH (Edmonton on June 10-11, 2017).

 

Stage Two Trials date: Saturday, June 10 & Sunday, June 11, 2017

Location: TBA, Edmonton

Time: Saturday, June 10 (Trials 10am-5pm)

Sunday, June 11 (Training 9am-12 Noon)

The top two winners of each age categories from the final selection will represent TEAM ALBERTA NORTH, and the third place finishers will be designated alternates, to compete in the 2018 Arctic Winter Games in Hay River & Fort Smith, NWT on March 17-24, 2018
