VENUE: Ralph Klein Centre, Olds College Community High School, 4500-50 Street, Olds T4H 1R6

PRIZES: Awarded to event winners, finalists & consolation event winners.

CONDITIONS: The tournament is open to athletes who are 2017-18 COMPETITIVE members in good standing of Badminton Alberta. The tournament will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada and the World Badminton Federation.

YOUNG OFFICALS PROGRAM - Badminton Alberta will be continuing with the implementation of phase one of the Young Officials Program, which requires the winner of a match to stay on-court to scorekeep the upcoming match on the same court. Scheduling of the tournament will be adjusted to provide additional rest time between matches to accomodate the additional commitment of the players. In the case of doubles, the decision to whom will stay behind to scorekeep will be decided by Rock-Paper-Scissors between the winning pair. Any player unwilling to cooperate with Tournament Management will be removed from the tournament. 

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have competed in at least one Alberta Junior Circuit tournament since October 1st, 2017 to be eligible for Alberta Junior Provincials.

RULES: The 60 second break between the first and second game will be allowed throughout the tournament, but prior to the semi-final round, coaching during this break will not be permitted. Athletes must remain on court during the break. Coaching may only be provided during the break between the second and third games.  Ten-minute default and two minute warm-up rules will be in effect.

AGE CATEGORIES: u19 (born in 2000 or later); u17 (born in 2002 or later); u15 (born in 2004 or later); u13 (born in 2006 or later); and u11 (born in 2008 or later).

EVENTS: Singles, Doubles & Mixed Doubles. Players may enter a maximum of three events, one singles, one doubles and one mixed doubles event. Play begins Friday at 2:00pm with singles in all age categories, followed with mixed doubles, Saturday at 9:00 am with doubles and continuation of singles and mixed doubles. All main draw and consolation finals will be scheduled for Sunday.   Draws will be post on Badminton Alberta On-Line at www.badmintonalberta.ca

FORMAT: Main draw with consolation events for all those defeated in their first round match, time permitting.

SEEDINGS: Draws prepared according to the latest Badminton Alberta rankings.

ENTRY FEE: The entry fee of $75.00 (includes $2.50 Young Officials Program fee) is payable on-line at the time of entry using a credit card or PayPal account.  You must know your Badminton Alberta number to enter.  Please use all seven digits (2 letters followed by 5 numbers).  If you do not know your BA number please check on-line at http://www.badmintonalberta.ca/page/27711/201415-Active-Membership-ID-Numbers

On-Line entry only: You must enter on-line by visiting www.badmintonalberta.ca  Be sure to let your club coach know that you have entered and who your partners are.  You should know and enter your partners Badminton Alberta number at the time of registration.

ENTRY DEADLINE: The entry deadline is April 4, at 17:59 MST.

SHUTTLES: Yonex Areosena 40 feather shuttles will be supplied for all age categories.

CLOTHING: Colored clothing is permitted. Badminton attire is mandatory. The use of protective eyewear is strongly recommended during play.

COACHING ELIGIBILITY – Effective January 01, 2016, Badminton Alberta will require that all coaches entering the field of play be minimal Comp Intro Regional certified.
