2017 Cdn Nationals set to begin

OTTAWA, ON – The Saskatchewan Badminton Association and Badminton Canada are pleased to announce the Riverside Badminton and Tennis Club will be hosting the 2017 Yonex Canadian National Championships in Saskatoon from February 1-4, 2017.

This week, Canada’s top athletes from across the nation will travel to Saskatoon to compete for National Championship titles in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles events.

The 2017 Yonex Canadian National Championships is the most anticipated event of the year. The National Championships will highlight some of the best badminton players from coast-to-coast. The Championship event will feature many of Canada’s high performance athletes such as reigning Women’s Doubles National Champion and Pan Am Silver Medalist Rachel Honderich (Toronto, ON), six-time defending Men’s Doubles Champion Adrian Liu (Prince Rupert, B.C.), rising star and defending Men’s Singles Champion Jason Ho-Shue (Toronto, ON) and two-time defending Mixed Doubles Champion Toby Ng (Vancouver, B.C.). Unluckily, six-time defending women’s singles National Champion and London 2012/Rio 2016 Olympian, Michelle Li (Markham, ON), will not be competing at Nationals this year due to an injury. We wish her best of luck and a speedy recovery.

We’re excited to announce that the finals of the 2017 Yonex Canadian National Championship will be broadcasted from the Riverside Badminton and Tennis Club on Saturday February 4th at 12:00 CMT (noon). Don’t miss any action and catch the LIVE broadcast directly at http://badmintoncanada.tv.

“We are absolutely thrilled to host the 2017 Yonex Canadian National Championships in Saskatchewan,” said Anil Kaul, President of Badminton Canada. “This event is a great opportunity to feature our best Canadian athletes as well as showcase the high intensity of our sport.”
