Team Alberta North badminton trials for selection to 2014 Arctic Winter Games

Badminton Alberta will be conducting zone trials on Saturday, May 18th in Fort McMurray and Saturday, June 8 in Peace River for athletes interested in representing Alberta at the 2014 Arctic Winter Games. To be eligible, you must reside above the 55th parallel. All athletes must register in advance through their zone contact.

Registration fee: $20.00 - For Badminton Alberta Members, $40 for non-Badminton Alberta members (includes $20 basic membership fee).

Categories: Junior Male (born in 1995 or later); Junior Female (born in 1995 or later); Juvenile Male (born in 1998 or later); Juvenile Female (born in 1998 or later).

Trials format: Singles only, round robin play, 21 rally point, best of 3 games. The top two boys and two girls in each category will advance to the Alberta North final trials.

 

Zone 7

Zone 7 trials will be held on Saturday, May 18th at Father Mercredic Community High School, 455 Silin Forest Road, Ft McMurray, T9H 4V6 from 1:00pm-6:00pm. To register please contact Julianna Yee at 780.791-3085

Zone 8

Zone 8 trials will be held on Saturday, June 8th at Glenmarry School, 8801 - 96 Street, Peace River, T8S 1R6 from 9:00am - 4:00pm. To register please complete the enclosed registration form.

 

Team Alberta North will compete in the 2014 Arctic Winter Games being held in Fairbanks, Alaska from March 15-22, 2014. The badminton team will consist of two boys and two girls in the u16 and u19 age categories. In addition to the athletes, Team Alberta North will consist of two support personel - one coach, one assistant coach/manager. The coach and assistant coach must be of opposite gender.

Badminton Alberta is accepting applications for the positions of coach and assistant coach/manager. Interested individuals must be able to compete to the entire length of the project. The coach must be fully certified at a minimium of NCCP Level Two badminton, while the assistant coach/manager must be fully certified at a minimium of NCCP Level One badminton. Cover letters complete with CV should be sent to Jeff Bell at jbell@badmintonalberta.ca no later than June 15, 2013.
