Nominations for Director position's now being accepted

The affairs of Badminton Alberta are managed by a volunteer board of directors.

Director positions are available in odd numbered zones according to the enclosed map: Sunny South – Zone 1; Calgary – Zone 3, Black/Gold – Zone 5; and North East – Zone 7. These positions are for a period of two years and will be determined through a mail ballot election process. Only current Badminton Alberta members residing in the respective zone may vote.

Each of the six rural zone associations­ will be represented by at least one director. Calgary and Edmonton­ and any rural zone with an excess of 100 members are allowed an additional­ director for each additional 100 members.

Any vacant executive positions of president­, vice-president, secretary and treasurer shall be determined among the newly elected board at their first opportunity.

The board meets on average twice per year to develop policy­ and implement bylaws necessary­ to ensure the growth and prosperity of the sport.

Individuals interested in serving on the board must be at least 18 years of age and be nominated by three members­ of the association, whom reside in the same zone.

The association also requires individuals­ to sit on a number of committees­; such as Officials, Coaching & Competition, Membership, Tournaments and Ranking­, ACAC & ASAA.

Committees­ meet a minimum of once per year and may contain non-board members. Anyone interested in participating­ on one of the various committees is asked to contact the Executive Director at 403.297-2722.
