The YONEX ALBERTA JUNIOR CIRCUIT continues with the six of nine tournaments being host on February 5 to 7, 2016 by Stettler Junior Badminton Club.

VENUE – Wm E. Hay High School, 5411 - 50 Ave, Stettler, AB Google Map link.

GYM ASSIGNMENTS - U13 – Stettler Middle School Gym; U15 – Stettler Elementary School Gym and Christ the King School Gym, and U17 and U190 events all in the High School gym (use north entrance for registrations)

FOOD SERVICES - Food services will be available during the tournament.

CONDITIONS – The AJC - Stettler Junior tournament is open to athletes born in 1998 or later (U19), 2000 or later (U17), 2002 or later (U15), and 2004 or later (U13). Alberta athletes must be competitive members in good standing with Badminton Alberta. BA membership is required at $40.00 for athletes 14 years & under and $42.00 for all athletes 15 years & older.

FORMAT – Round-robin qualifying will be used in all singles events. Pools of four players will be used when possible, with the top two finishers in each pool advancing to the main round single elimination draw. The third place finisher in each pool will advance to a consolation round single elimination draw. Players will receive a minimum of three matches in singles and two matches in all doubles events. Single elimination draw type with consolations (time permitting) in all doubles events.

ENTRY FEES – $62.50 per player regardless of age category. Each player will receive one souvenir dry-fit t-shirt per season, regardless of how many tournaments they enter.

ENTRY DEADLINE – entries are due no later than 6:00 pm MST at least ten (10) days prior to the start date of the tournament. Timed draws will be post on www.badmintonalberta.ca by 2:00 PM on the Wednesday prior to the tournament. Late entries will not be accepted by the on-line Tournament Software registration system or through the office.

ELIGIBILITY - All participants must be affiliated individually as a Competitive Member with Badminton Alberta or be a member in good standing with another provincial badminton association. Badminton Alberta membership will be verified at the time of on-line registration and available if required.

EVENTS - Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Players may enter one singles, one doubles, and one mixed doubles. In one age category only please.

AWARDS – Each host organization will be responsible to present awards to all main draw event winners, runner up and consolation winners.

CLOTHING - "Coloured clothing" is allowed at this venue. Non marking shoes are required. Badminton Alberta promotes the use of protective eyewear.

SCHEDULE – Tournament will begin Friday’s at 4:00pm with singles in all age categories. Doubles events to begin Saturday at 9:00am. Play will continue Sunday with semi-finals and finals in all events. Start times are subject to change depending on the size of entry. Schedule is subject to change, based on size of entry and availability of courts. Finals on Saturday, Feb 6 or Sunday, Feb. 7 depending on the number of entries.

SHUTTLES – Yonex AS40 feather shuttles supplied for all matches in U15, U17 & U20 age categories. Host clubs will have the option to use Yonex Mavis nylon 300 shuttles in u13 age category. Quantity of shuttles may be limited if abnormal use is experienced.

SERIES RANKINGS –Yonex Alberta Junior Circuit ranking point standings will be calculated and post following event tournament. These rankings will be maintained separately for singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The final Yonex Alberta Junior Circuit rankings will be based on an athletes’ best five of nine results from the Yonex Alberta Junior Circuit tournaments, including the Alberta Junior Championships.

TOURNAMENT RULES – Three-minute on-court warm-up. Ten-minute default rule will be in effect. BWF rally point scoring format will be utilized. Active coaching will not be permitted. Coaching will only be allowed during the two minute break between the second and third game. The sixty-second break will be respected between all first and second games, without coaching support.
