The Badminton Canada is pleased to provide information on the application process to access the BWF Female Para Participation Grants for athletes in 2020. The Female Participation Grant offers opportunities for female athletes to apply for financial support to attend and be Internationally Classified at a number of BWF sanctioned International tournaments in 2020.

To be considered to receive a participation grant from the BWF, athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • Be affiliated to their Provincial  Territorial Badminton Association
  • Be eligible to be internationally classified by the BWF in one of the six Para badminton Sport Classes (WH1, WH2, SL3, SL4, SU5 & SH6)
  • Participate in structured badminton training on a weekly basis (minimum)

Please complete the Female Participation Grant Application Form 2020  and the attached  two  classification forms (listed below) in full and return to Joe Morissette at morissette@badminton.ca  by 22nd of November 2019

All forms must be completed in English and sent in PDF format. The Medical Information Form must be stamped by a Doctor.

Please find attached Classification Calendar for 2020. Please note that not all events will offer classification in 2020, and it is therefore important for athletes to select an event which offers BWF classification.

Successful applicants will be selected and may receive a full or partial grant to allow them to attend and be Internationally Classified at a BWF sanctioned International tournament in 2020. The BWF will notify Badminton Canada of the outcome of their applications by 13th December 2019.

Please note the maximum number of applications per country is three. If we receive more than three application, Badminton Canada’s HP Committee will select the three applications to be forwarded to the BWF.

Please note the maximum amount which can be applied for per athlete is $1,250 USD.
