2012 Arctic Winter Games

Team Alberta North tryouts will be taking place in November/December of 2009. The trials will consist of two stages. Stage One trials will be offered in each of the two eligible zones.

It is anticipated that Stage Two of the trials will be held in December in Edmonton. Only the top two finishers in each event will be eligible to attend the final Stage.

Entry Fee

The cost to attend the Stage One trials is $20 per player. All players must be members of Badminton Alberta. Non-members must pay an additional $17.50. All fees must be paid before play commences at the trials.

There is no additional cost for qualified athletes to attend Stage Two trials.

Zone trials are as follows

• Zone 8 trials will take place Sunday, November 8 from Noon-5pm at Maude Clifford School, 9206 Lakeland Dr, Grande Praire, T8X 0J4

• Zone 7 trials will occur on Saturday, November 14 from Noon-5pm at Father Mercredi Community School, 455 Silin Forest Rd, Ft McMurray, T9H 4V6.

Age Categories

To be eligible to participate athletes must be born in 1991 or later for Junior category and 1994 or later for Juvenile category. Team Alberta North will consist of eight athletes (2 males and 2 females in each the Junior and Juvenile category).

The 2010 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Grande Prairie from March 6-13.

Head Coach

Kathie Harrop of Peace River has been appointed Head Coach. Kathie is fully certified at Level 2, and has previous experience at the Games as both a player and as coach in 2006 and 2008. The position of Manager will be determined following Stage Two of the trials.
