Venue: ClearOne Badminton Centre – Calgary. Unit #1853 – 120th. Ave NE, Calgary, T3K 0S5 Yel. 403.265-3886. Directions - ClearOne is located east of Deerfoot Trl on Country Hills Blvd, NE.

Conditions: The tournament is open to Alberta residents or athletes who represent Alberta and are COMPETITIVE members in good standing of Badminton Alberta. The tournament will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada and the Badminton World Federation. Non members must pay an additional $40.
 

Entry Fee - The entry fee of $55 for the first event and $15.00 for the second event and no charge for the third event is payable to “Badminton Alberta” at the time of on-line registration using Tournament Software (GST is included in the all prices).

Entry Deadline: The entry deadline is 27 March at 17:59 MST. Entries received WITHOUT PAYMENT will NOT be considered. Late entries will not be accepted. Refunds will not be issued once the draws have been published.
 

Clothing - “Appropriate’ badminton clothing (including footwear and warm-ups) is mandatory. The use of protective eyewear is strongly recommended during play.
 

Seedings - Conducted according to the latest Badminton Alberta senior rankings.
 

Awards – A maximum of $38,000 in prize money will be paid (including $10,000 prize purse for Alberta Series Finals), with each tournament featuring a maximum of $3,500.00 in prize money payable to the winners, finalists and semi-finalists of the ‘A’ events.

The prize money will initially be split evenly among the five disciplines, with a sliding scale being implemented to encourage a strong entry.  Out of province players are welcome and encouraged to enter the first seven events.  All participants in the ‘A’ division, regardless of province are eligible for prize payout.

YONEX Points – Winners and finalists in the ‘B’ and ‘C’ other sponsor merchandise credits will be awarded to the winner and finalist in each of the B & C divisions of each tournament.  Credit holders can purchase sponsor merchandise once they have enough credits. Players will be able to purchase what they want, when they want or save up for something substantial like a new racquet. Athletes may not earn product points and prize money in the same event. When the size of draws provide this opportunity, athletes will receive prize money and the corresponding product points will be unclaimed.

Shuttles - Yonex Areosena 50 feather shuttles will be supplied for all matches. The tournament organizer reserves the right to control the quantity of shuttles provided for all matches. All shuttles are the property of the tournament organizer.
 

Photos - Please be aware that Badminton Alberta, its representative and successors reserve all rights to reproduce, for the purpose of illustration, fund raising, advertising or publication in any manner, any photographs taken by Badminton Alberta during the tournament.
 

Events - Singles, Doubles and Mixed. Players may enter one singles, one doubles and one mixed doubles event.
The Championships will be offered in A, B, C waterfall format, which guarantees three matches per event. Singles play begins at 5:00 PM Friday. Draw times will be available at Badminton Alberta On-Line at www.badmintonalberta.ca On court warm-up time will be 3 minutes. Default time will be 10 minutes.
 

Schedule – Play commences at: Friday 6 PM – mixed doubles; Saturday 9 am – men’s and women’s singles; Saturday 2 PM – men’s and women’s doubles; Sunday 9 am - play continues in singles and doubles if required.  Schedule is subject to change, based on size of entry and availability of courts.

Tournament Rules – Three-minute on-court warm-up. Ten-minute default rule will be in effect. BWF rally point scoring format will be utilized.  Active coaching will not be permitted. Coaching will only be allowed during the two minute break between the second and third game. The sixty-second break will be respected between all first and second games, without coaching support.
