The affairs of Badminton Alberta are managed by a board of volunteer directors.
Director positions are available in even numbered zones according to the enclosed map: Big Country - Zone 2; Parkland - Zone 4; Edmonton - Zone 6; and Peace Country - Zone 8. These positions are for a period of two years and will be determined through a mail ballot election process. Only current Badminton Alberta members residing in the respective zone may vote.
Each of the six rural zone associations will be represented by at least one director. Calgary and Edmonton and any rural zone with an excess of 100 members are allowed an additional director for each additional 100 members.
Any vacant executive positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer shall be determined among the newly elected board at their first opportunity.
The board meets on average twice per year to develop policy and implement bylaws necessary to ensure the growth and prosperity of the sport.
Individuals interested in serving on the board must be at least 18 years of age and be nominated by three members of the association, whom reside in the same zone.
The association also requires individuals to sit on a number of committees: such as Governance; Audit & Finance; Membership & Zone Development; Long Term Athlete & Coach Development; and Events.
Committees meet a minimum of once per year and may contain non-board members. Anyone interested in participating on one of the various committees is asked to contact the Executive Director at 403.297-2722.
