2024 Alberta Winter Games - Zone Trials

Zone Trials information

Zone Trials will be held in each of the eight identified zones during November or early December.

Format of Trials: will consist of singles play only. There will be no formal doubles or mixed doubles qualifying. Pool qualifying will lead to single elimination playoffs. The winner of singles and the winner of doubles will be automatcially selected. Time permitting there may be an opportunity to experiment with doubles and mixed doubles combinations.

Zone trials will be limited to one day in each zone.

• Zone 1 - Sunday, November 19 - Lethbridge College Gym, 3000 College Dr South, Lethbridge from 9am-2pm
• Zone 2 - Sunday, December 3 - Edison Badminton Centre from 10am - 2pm
• Zone 3 - Sunday, November 19 - The Glencoe Club, 636 29 Ave SW, Calgary from 2-6pm (White clothing is mandatory)
• Zone 4 - Sunday, November 19 - Burman University Physical Education  Gym, Lacombe from 2-6pm
• Zone 5 - Sunday, November 19 - Modu Badminton Club, 3615 - 11 Street Nisku from 1-5pm
• Zone 6 - Sunday, November 19 - B-Active Badminton Club, 14830 - 112 Ave Edmonton from 5:30-9pm (amended)
• Zone 7 - Saturday, November 25 - Holy Trinity Catholic High School, 230 Powder Drive, Fort McMurray from 9am-1pm
• Zone 8 - Sunday, NOvember 19 - Mile Zero Multiplex, 4609 - 50 Street Grimshaw from 10am-2pm

Zone Team Size: A total of four boys and four girls in the u17 age category (for athletes born in 2008 or later) will be selected in each zone. 

Eligibility: Athletes must only try-out in one zone, that being, the zone their reside within or the zone in which they train within.

Registration fee: The cost of zone trials will be $20 for Badminton Alberta members, non-members must purchase a BA membership for either $15 (youth) or $26.25 (adult). Registration will be by on-line entry only.

Registration deadline: November 9, 2023 for all Zones.
