Players and Parents Interested in The Badminton Academy's Elite Training Program
Badminton Alberta wishes to thank you for your interest in The Badminton Academy's Elite badminton program. The Elite program is in its' 11th year of existence and continues to grow and evolve. The goal of the program is to allow Calgary youth the opportunity to participate in a continuous high performance badminton program offering instruction multiple times per week. This program is designed for athletes that may have graduated from the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University or the City of Calgary badminton programs. The athlete profile will be a child/young adult who wishes to improve their badminton by training several times per week in a structured coaching environment. The athlete must be able to participate in the designated training times and be willing to participate in tournaments and/or inter-clubs (coaches will provide recommendations to players and parents).
Demand for the Elite program continues to grow each year; as such this year will have an evaluation and assessment session for all players wishing to participate in the program. This session will ensure that athletes are separated into the proper groups based on skill development (current ability), future potential, age and commitment to badminton. The separation of athletes will ensure that each training group has athletes within a similar range of ability allowing for the proper training specific drills and methods providing a positive learning environment for all participants.
Prior to the assessment period Parents/Players will be asked to fill out an athlete information sheet providing valuable details to Badminton Alberta. This will ensure that proper and timely communication of information can be exchanged. Upon conclusion of the assessment, athletes will be assigned to one of the training groups based on age and ability level. Parents/Players will be sent an email on Tuesday September 14 with the athlete’s group designation. Training will begin September 18th with the following times:
Elite - Mount Royal University, Stanley Gym & University of Calgary Red Gym
Saturday 11:30 am – 1 pm (MRU), Mondays 7:00 pm – 8:03 pm (U of C Red Gym)
Coaches: TBA
Cost: $528.00+GST = $554.40
