Alberta Government issues Enhanced Public Health Measures

New mandatory public health measures are in place in communities across Alberta to protect the health system and slow the spread of COVID-19.

From November 27th to December 18th, these new restrictions will limit the ability for transmissions of COVID to occur, while still allowing certain businesses to offer services.

Businesses that are closed for in-person service include:

  • Banquet halls, conference centres, trade shows, auditoria and concert venues, nonapproved/licensed markets, community centres
  • Children’s play places or indoor playgrounds
  • All levels of sport (professional, semiprofessional, junior, collegiate/universities and amateur). Exemptions may be considered on a case by case basis.

In addition, inspections will occur at an increased frequency to ensure that these new public health measures are being followed. Establishments that are non-compliant may face orders and fines.

Please note that Badminton Alberta will continue to provide more details over the coming days as we seek clarity on certain speaking points made by the Premier and Minister of Health. Additionally, Badminton Alberta will pursue further information on the exemption application process.
