Channarong retires after forty years

After a forty year career as the head badminton professional at The Glencoe Club in Calgary, Channarong Ratanaseangsuang has retired.

Originally from Thailand, Channarong came to The Glencoe Club in 1965, as the number one ranked men's singles player in the world.

Over 400 people were on hand to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment.  Jamie Paulson, a former student and long time friend of Channarong's, served as Master of Ceremonies.  The evening featured speeches from Jim Powell, Rick Simonton, Ray Brett, Ken Poole and Denyse Julien, plus a touching video presentation covering highlights from his 40 year career.

A copy of the evening's activities and video presentation are available for purchase through Vigor Media, an Alberta based company owned and operated by Conrad Sun, a former student of Channarongs.
