EXTRA MEDAL EVENT AT THE GAMES – MIXED DOUBLES
Participants who qualify for the Men’s and Women’s Doubles may also pair up with their appropriate zone competitors to enter Mixed Doubles. Age categories will be determined based on participation at the Games.
 
RULES AND PLAYOFF INFORMATION
1.    The rules of Badminton Canada shall apply and are available by contacting Badminton Alberta (403) 297-2722, or viewing them on www.badminton.ca
                    
2.    A round robin tournament shall be used for Playoffs and for Alberta 55 Plus Games. Only in exceptional cases will another tournament format be accepted.

 
3. The Yonex green band (nylon) shuttlecock will be used at the Provincial Games and is recommended for use at the zone playoffs.
   
4. The Host Community/Host Zone will have the prerogative of filling in local participants for Doubles teams that unexpectedly field less than two (2) players at the Games. A random draw will be used.
 
At Playoffs and Alberta 55 Plus Games: When round robin play is completed, player or pair with the most wins receives the highest standing.
 
Tiebreaker procedures:
·         If a two-way tie occurs among those eligible for medals, refer back to match between tied teams.
·         If a three or more-way tie occurs among those eligible for medals, refer back to win/loss between tied teams. If tie still not broken, refer back to total number of games won. If tie still not broken, refer back to total number of points.
